The Element of Earth represents stolidity, for earth is a blocky, solidly staunch element. Earth resists change, yet accepts change.
Earth Elementals, when summoned, usually exhibit vague man-shapes, as if hewn roughly from a block of stone. Because of their majikal nature, Earth Elementals can be hit only by majik weapons, air, and spells. Elementals are summoned creatures, brought into being by majik, and as such, their parameters depend a great deal on the skill of their caster. Hit dice are one-quarter of the level of the summoner, so a Vizier of eighth level would summon an Elemental of from 2-16 hit points. Like all Elementals and summoned creatures, an Elemental of Earth would rather return to its native plane than serve in the weird and uncomfortable melange of elements of the True World, and will seek to escape at every opportunity. |
