Distantly related to dragons, a fire drake is an animal rarely encountered. They were once native to the rocky hills in the area which became the Garnet Desert after the Dwarvan Cataclysm, and their habitat has eroded away slowly over the many years since.

Now a fire drake is most commonly seen as an exotic familiar, as many majzi will attempt to bond a dragonnewt, as these type of creatures are called, the maj has raised from the egg, obtained from another maj with a breeding pair in most cases.

They can breathe fire every few rounds in bursts which do incendiary damage to their opponents.

The fire drake is approximately as intelligent as a sharp housecat, but terribly loyal to its master. This has made them a popular choice as familiars, and because of their rarity, they command an incredible price if one can even be found. A fire drake companion adds a +1 to their master's STR characteristic.
